Ameeta Verma Duggal

Ameeta spearheads the trade laws practice of her firm, DGS Associates, including import and export controls, anti-dumping, safeguards, countervailing and foreign trade issues.

Her book on Export Controls in India – Law and Procedures, co-authored with her colleague, Aditi Warrier, was published by Thomson Reuters last year.

Ameeta’s expertise lies in advising her clients on import and export of dual-use goods, including licensing, drafting and implementation of internal compliance programmes and giving training courses. She works closely with the Ministries of Commerce, Defence and other affiliated ministries on matters of export control. Ameeta frequently writes in the online media on issues concerning trade and technology.

Ameeta regularly represents foreign exporters, trade associations and Indian importers in the trade remedy measures initiated by India and in appellate litigation.

She has extensive experience in international trade laws, cross-border transactional and conveyancing work, including review and drafting of project financing documents, foreign collaboration agreements, joint ventures, shareholders agreements, technology licence agreements, due diligences and other commercial documents.

Ameeta co-founded the firm in 2004; it offers a wide range of legal services in the areas of corporate and commercial laws, international trade laws, civil aviation law, real estate law, telecom law, intellectual property rights law, environmental, health, safety and industrial law, litigation and arbitration.

Ameeta was awarded a British Chevening Scholarship by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to study at the College of Law, York. Thereafter she worked briefly in the London office of Clifford Chance before returning to India.
